NSE to roll back 6% hike in transaction charges, effective 1 April

Q2 Earnings

The National Stock Exchange has decided to roll back the 6% increase in transaction fees on equity cash and derivatives segment. This will make it cheaper to trade stocks on the cash and derivatives segment. The bourse said in a statement that this will start on April 1, 2023.

In January of last year, the fees went up by 6%. This was done in part to add to the investor protection fund trust corpus, which was low at the time because of broker defaults.
Also, to increase the NSE IPFT fund in a planned way, the stock exchange has changed the contribution from 0.01 per crore to 10 per crore for cash equity and futures and from 50 per crore to 10 per crore for equity options.
The recalibration of contribution to NSE IPFT will partially cancel out the reduction in transaction fees, so transaction fees will go down by about 4%, according to the statement.
