Stock Market To Remain Closed on August 15 for Independence Day

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will observe a holiday on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in honor of Independence Day. All trading activities across various segments will be suspended for the day, including equities, equity derivatives, and the Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments.

Holiday Impact:

  • Independence Day Closure: On August 15, both NSE and BSE will halt trading across all segments, including the capital markets, futures, and options markets. This holiday marks the only scheduled market closure in August, with the markets operational for 21 days during the month.
  • Upcoming Closures: Following the Independence Day break, trading will resume on Friday, August 16. However, the markets will again be closed over the weekend on August 17 and 18. Investors are advised to plan their trading activities accordingly, with the next opportunity to trade on August 16.
