BSE bulk deals: SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential buy stake in PVR. Share price jumps

SBI Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential, and the French foreign institutional investor (FII) Societe Generale—ODI have all purchased stakes in PVR through BSE bulk sales. According to data from BSE bulk trades, PVR shares were purchased by SBI Mutual Fund for over 229 crore, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund for 100 crore, and France FPI for a stake in PVR worth 51.20 crore in paid-up capital. This indicates that PVR shares were purchased by these mutual funds and FPIs for 380 crore.

PVR share price today opened with an upside gap and achieved intraday high of roughly $1,585 per share on NSE after this stock market news was made public. This is a 2.50 percent increase from Monday’s close of $1,546 per share.

Investment in SBI Mutual Funds
According to the BSE bulk deals listed on the BSE website, bseindia.com, SBI Mutual Fund purchased 14,69,650 PVR shares for a price of 1,559.35 per share. This indicates that the entire investment made by SBI Mutual Fund in PVR is around 229 crores (1,559.35 x 14,69,650).

Investment in ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund
PVR shares were also purchased by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund for 1,559.35 per share. 6,41,300 PVR shares were purchased by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund in a bulk transaction on March 20, 2023. This indicates that PVR shares were purchased by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund for about $100 crore (1,559.35 x 6,41,300).

French FII purchases a stake
Similar to this, 2.43 lakh PVR shares were purchased by France-based FPI Societe Generale — ODI at a price of 1,559.35 each, representing an investment of around 51.20 crore.

FII from Mauritius posts a profit
However, FII Berry Creek Investment Ltd, domiciled in Mauritius, reported a profit on PVR at $1,559.35 per share. 2,439,301 PVR shares were sold by the FII with its headquarters in Port Louis for $1,559.35 per share. This indicates that the FII stole 380 crore from the business (1559.35 times 24,39,301).
